New Music: BAER – River

BAER is a multicultural electropop artist who is currently based in Los Angeles. Born in Taiwan and partially raised in Canada, she feels this exposure to different cultures has expanded her musical horizons, citing genres such as R&B, Hip Hop, electronica, and Pop as influencing her sound.

Having made a splash last year with her Breathe The Same EP, BAER is back with River – a new single which showcases her musical mélange, but is at its heart an emotional but epic ballad, with her searing, soaring vocals taking the track higher and higher in heartfelt intensity.  Check out the Drew Kirsch video below.

The release of River comes as BAER gears up for her second EP, The Pink Formosa which is due out this November.

When talking about the inspiration for River, BAER says; ‘the lyrics use ‘the river’ as a metaphor to describe a meeting place between an ex-lover and I, which also refers to somewhere on my body. Using the concept of the water and the river, I took imagery from the famous Chinese poet, Li Bai, from his poem about sending off an old friend at the river. I also took inspiration from an ancient Chinese folklore and tried to create a fantastical imagery in the bridge of the song’.

River is out now, and you can stream the track on Spotify and Soundcloud.
