Just one listen the jangly but insanely melodic Freaking Out will get you believing that Cardiff’s Big Thing may have chosen a very apt name for the band (though they say the other names they came up with were even worse!). You can listen to the song, which is out now, below.

The quartet (Dan, Jen, Jonny and Matt) balance a disarming sense of humour about themselves with a light yet studied approach to their sound. Taking reference from the bright guitar led sound that rocked the indie charts in the UK back in the late 80s, the band bring that era up to date with a real sense of joy, artistry and awareness of reality in Freaking Out.

You can hear The Primitives and Cocteau Twins in there, maybe a bit of Dinosaur Jr, a dash of Pale Waves, all making the song a shiny switchblade knife of sound, sharp and sunny, as dazzling or as dangerous as you want it to be.

The band are now seasoned live performers, mainly gigging around Wales so far but keep glued to their Twitter and Facebook pages to find out about upcoming gigs and releases.
