New Music: Birch – Same Colors

Birch continues to impress with each release and Same Colors sees the duo in fine musical form. The male and female vocals engage in an emotional tug of war over an understated background of chilled hip-hop beats, lush vocal samples, and minimalist synthpop grooves.

Same Colors sees Brooklyn based Michelle Birsky and Mat Towles venture in to the realm of political pop – exploring the personal effects of the U.S. 2016 Presidential election. Talking about the lyrics of the song, the explain the refrain ‘We see the same three colors differently’, as reference to the ‘divergent views of US and world politics and our inability to open our eyes to other perspectives.

This song is a call for change. It is a call for empathy.’ Same Colors is out now as part of the Not Human EP which is currently streaming on Spotify.
