South Africa’s Bye Beneco are well known in their home country for their exciting videos and fresh, electronic take on dreampop, but It’s Not True Love should see them gain more international exposure to go with their existing acclaim.

Opening with a dreamy indie-imbued guitar sound, (and the video with a not so subtle sexual metaphor) the track quickly evolves into an interesting contradiction; dreampop with an upbeat, sensual presence.

That’s in part down to the uninhibited vocals and lyrics of Lenny-Dee, the arrangement is a treasure in its own right: funk, psych, dreampop and soul dance around each other, lightly touching but always in perfect formation. Lush pop with a wicked side, it’s hard to resist its charms.

It’s Not True Love is out now, with details on how to stream on download the track to be found here. Bye Beneco will be basing themselves in Europe soon so we’ll get to see more of them over here. You can find out more about that, new music and links to their eye-catching videos by checking out the band’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
