Clare Maguire’s brand of sophisticated 80s infused jazz / RNB fusion is like a soothing balm for the soul. Have a listen to new single Jungle Gardenia to hear what we mean.

As you’d expect, her song writing is on point as ever; clever and succinct, creating a track that’s smooth and emotive, and with lyrics that create their own emotional world in a matter of minutes.

There’s a softness to her vocal delivery on Jungle Gardenia that adds to that ambience of reflective RNB that underlies the song. It has echoes of 80s soul acts like Cherelle and Pebbles, like them her rich but understated performance gives the song added weight and meaning.

For me it shows a different side to Maguire, revealing an air of vulnerability and openness in a vocal style that already manages to encompass soft rock passion with deliciously soulful undertones.

Jungle Gardenia is out now and can be downloaded via iTunes. Maguire is a firm favourite on the festival circuit so be sure to keep an eye on her Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts to find out upcoming dates and releases.
