Chicago’s Cool Heat describe themselves as ‘slacker pop artists’, but that self-deprecation is somewhat off the mark. On new release Slow Burn, there’s a real sense of ingenuity and creativity at play that belies that description. Check out the track below to hear what we mean.

Primitive post-punk and New Wave tones create a feeling that is minimal sonically but allows the song to max out on emotional gravity via the lyrics. Operating in similar musical universe to Cold Cave and Drab Majesty, it channels a similar sense of dreamy abandon but avoids introspection, instead opting for a more outward-looking, engaging alt.pop sound

Cool Heat’s Slow Burn is out now, and can also be streamed on Spotify. Head over to their Instagram to find out more about the song and  the band.
