It’s been a year or so since we last heard from Covered in Snow, but it’s been a worthwhile wait as their new music encompasses masterpieces of reflection, such as the iridescent Regret.

Mikael Engström and Tom Hedlund namecheck Kite as an influence and that’s setting the bar very high for themselves. On Regret it’s a well-deserved comparison though, as they hit that sweet spot between subtle melancholy and abstract nostalgia for times past.

Swirling synths hark back to analogue days and the haze of youth, the vocals feel like the prefect expression of those undefinable emotions that sometimes overwhelm us. Happy-sad in its own sweet way, it successfully evokes a Proustian response even as the melody wants you to reach for better, happier memories.

Regret and the Collateral Damage EP are out now, streaming on Spotify as well as Soundcloud. You can also download the tracks on all major digital outlets including GooglePlay and iTunes. For more information on that, new music and more from Covered in Snow, be sure to throw them a follow Facebook.
