Sydney trio Creo is comprised of Jorjee Haman (vocals), Carlos Romanos (guitar), Daniel Tsoltoudis (drums). The band says that their differing cultural backgrounds and love of alt.rock informs their sound, as on new single Juliet.
White Lies meets Muse in the melting-pot that in a modern city like Sydney might sound odd, but it’s something that works here. An indie-electro foundation gives way in the chorus to raw and soaring vocals, allied to anthemic guitars and powerful percussion, reinforcing the pointed and (for the band) painful lyrics.
Here’s what the band has to say about Juliet: “The track is a personal reflection of what our beloved hometown (Sydney) has become over the last 5 or so years. It’s not a protest piece because we’re not really that sort of band but more so an observation of the state of the current nightlife and the overall vibe of the city. Some of our favourite places growing up have lost their heartbeat and we’ve felt somewhat helpless watching it all slowly decline into a corporate wasteland.”
Juliet is available to stream or download on all major platforms, including Bandcamp and Spotify. Be sure to check the band out over on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to discover other listening options, news about the group, and upcoming releases and gigs.
