New Music: Erin McCarley – Blackout

Originally presented to the world as a pop artist, Nashville based Erin McCarley has successfully carved out her own musical path in the last few years – a journey that has reached new heights in the form of her latest release, BLACKOUT – which also features Bodytalkr (aka Jeremy Lutito from Leagues). Check out the spooky Ezra and Jillian Cohen directed video!

The track is best described as a dark electro banger, McCarley’s vocals and initial piano led opening giving BLACKOUT a deceptively simple intro before the pulsating bass and stark but rhythmic synths kick in to deliver a sound that is minimal and mesmerising.

The track slowly builds within that nominal setting, before the tempo and intensity leads to an almost sensual conclusion.

Speaking of the song and album McCarley says: “The human condition was my biggest inspiration for YU YĪ, all of the anxiety, fear, arousal, isolation, sadness, connection between others, etc that can come from the underlying and overwhelming unconscious feeling of why we are here on this planet… We live in a time that is very layered. Our minds and bodies are dealing with so many sensory overloads and triggers.”
