Swedish dark synthpop sensation Frida Sundemo’s latest single Gold shows that her unerring ability to combine haunting melodies and heartful lyrics is still as sublime as ever. Gold features on her debut album Flashback & Futures and showcases her majestically emotional vocals, which are beautifully framed by delicate strings and a quietly thunderous rhythm that give the track a fragile, upbeat sensitivity.
The video features Sundemo as a stranded astronaut exploring a seemingly alien landscape, encased in a spacesuit that isolates her from her surroundings yet leaving her vulnerable to her own thoughts, dreams and emotions. Gold is out now and Flashback & Futures is released on October 6th via Cosmos Music. You can find more information about listening to the album here.
We’ve had a chance to hear Flashback & Futures and its occasionally bleak, occasionally uplifting take on space and time is sure to strike a chord with fans of acts like The Knife, Kite and Pet Shop Boys due to its mix of futurepop synths and orchestral disco bliss. Susanne Sundfør, Robyn and Molly Nilsson have a real rival on their hands for the affections of the Scandipop aficionados and the wider public!
