FYE & FENNEK have followed up Places, their first single from their recent Separate Together album, with the release of the dark but enchantingly lilting Miles Davis. You can listen to the song below – there’s also a rather cool Hanoi-filmed video.

Flying high from the opening note, it draws the listener in courtesy of some very human, intimate vocals. At times they echo the power and intensity of Amy Winehouse, but with a clearer, more contained quality to them; balanced with a sense of restraint that gives the moments of soaring vocal acrobatics even greater emotional weight.

The melody and arrangement serve the vocals and lyrics perfectly, and have a late-night bar feel to them, amiably carousing their way along, but with an ambience of sharpness – if not steeliness -underling the superficially low-key vibe.

Miles Davis is out now via Filter Records and is available for both streaming and  download – you can get more information here. Throughout October the duo will be touring with Lui Hill, playing throughout Europe. You can get information on dates by checking out the band’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages.
