New Music: Glass Spells – Fascination

  • New Music: Glass Spells - Fascination

Mixing the glacial charm of Ladytron and the raw energy of The Gossip with the warm and seductive sensuality of classic disco-era Blondie, Fascination by San Diego based quartet Glass Spells is a real moody disco-punk stormer.

When Neil Tennant sang about hearing ‘Che Guevara and Debussy to a disco beat’, I suspect something like this was racing through his mind. Its bass line focusses firmly on the dancefloor of your local goth or indie night, but the lyrics seek to take your mind somewhere a bit more private and permissive.

Fascination is a perfect song for when no matter how crowded a venue may be, as far as you’re concerned, there’s only you and one else in the place – maybe even the world – as it spreads musical stardust and sexual energy with every throbbing beat from these self-described disco-goths.

If you like what you hear, be sure to check out the band on Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram – why not throw some social media love their way!
