New Music: HÄANA – Salt

LA-based producer/violinist/vocalist HÄANA‘s productions are akin to film scores: but the strings and bombast of a Hollywood soundtrack are replaced with epic Nordic Icelandic-tinged folk influences merged with modern digital and retro analogue sounds. She counts Massive Attack, Björk, and Trentemøller as influences on her work, some of which you can hear on her most recent release Salt.

Salt fuses its disparate elements successfully, taking the listener on a musical journey through a soundscape inhabited by the twin monsters of trip hop and orchestral rock; with the purest of vocals providing light at the darkest points of the song.

There’s a mythic yet human quality to the track which entranced me immediately. You can check out more of her music over on Spotify. HÄANA Is currently touring the USA and you can get more details on that via her website.
