Icelandic indie singer/songwriter Hildur whips up a cool tune to dissipate the temperature and tensions of summer (and relationships) on the delicious Work.

Exquisitely recreating a familiar and fun sound that evokes comparisons with the pop/soul blend of the 80s, the song marries an emotionally heartfelt set of lyrics to a tight, bright arrangement. The real highlight is Hildur’s vocal delivery: she underplays it to let they lyrics shine, but still her fresh and flirtatious performance manages to steal centre stage. Scandi-soul rarely gets this good.

Hildur had this to say about the track: “Work is a fun and quirky song about new love and strong feelings – and then putting in some work to make it last. Love relies heavily on that gut feeling and when you meet someone you really click with you are willing to do everything and anything to make the relationship ‘work’.”

Coming from her recent Intuition EP, Work is out now on AntiFragile  and you can find out about Hildur, her music and more by checking out her Facebook and Instagram feeds.
