New Music: Jan Blomqvist – Winter Roads

Jan Blomqvist is a Berlin-based solo-artist and bandleader, who broke through to the dance audience’s consciousness with the Something Says video, which has now been streamed over eight million times on YouTube. The track and video popularised his brand of techno which mixes live instruments and electronic elements, a sound again to the fore on his new release, Winter Roads.

The track – which he says was inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – is produced in partnership with Felix Lehmann (Piano, Production) Christian Dammann (Live-Drums, Videos) and Ryan Mathiesen (Lyrics), Blomqvist’s Winter Roads exudes a stately charm and magic.

The track references the progressive rock of bands liked Radiohead in the way it accentuates the minimal to the maximum, but it also has its eyes and heart set on the dancefloor, with chilled arpeggios and mellow synths inducing the listener to get on their feet and let the music take control of their body and emotions.

Winter Roads is out now via Eelke Kleijn’s DAYS like NIGHTS label and has been released in tandem with another track, Winter Nights. Both are streaming on Spotify and you can find out more about streaming and downloading the track by clicking on this link.
