New Music: LightHouse – Nebula

  • New Music: LightHouse - Nebula

Katya Richardson and Logan Nelson aka LightHouse are both studying classical music, but somehow find time to produce some slinky and sophisticated pop music. too Have a listen to their third single Nebula and you’ll know what we mean.

The track, which will feature on their upcoming EP which Is due out in Autumn, evokes comparisons with two wildly divergent acts – Pet Shop Boys and Steely Dan! For one, there’s a chilled, comforting rhythm and sense of warmth to Nebula that captures the spirit of Becker, Fagan and co – one that soothes even as it ruffles your feathers.

Add to that aura of electronica melancholy, that sense of being detached from ourselves and surroundings that Tennant and Lowe have mastered, but whereas that duo act often act as wry observers or disinterested commentators, LightHouse choose to offer a positive message in the song.

The duo had this to say about Nebula: “We wanted to address something relatable. At some point in our lives, we’ve all felt stuck – we’ve all been at a point where we weren’t the truest to ourselves or to our dreams. This song is about seeing past that and taking action. It’s about craving the unknown and the unreachable, and quite literally, shooting for the stars.”

Nebula is out now; you can stream the track as well as previous singles Lost & Found and Ships over on Spotify. The song is also available on all major digital platforms.
