Mari Sianio takes elements of electronic and classical music and merges them into a style that is both relaxing and cinematic, as you can hear on her recently released Mountains.
Chiming and calming as it slowly unwinds, it has an ambience that would appeal to those that like the more intimate and pastoral feel to their ambient electronica. The strings give the piece a human heart, a real sense of wonder but most of all a sensation that the restrained but ethereal melody provides a path to soothing the listener’s troubles for a moment in time.
Think Sigur Rós and Ludovico Einaudi reworking Sibelius and you’ll get a flavour of the innate beauty that underlies Mountains.
Mountains is from Mari Sainio’s recent Minus 25 album which was released on August 10th via Ranka Kustannus and is available in LP, CD and digital formats. You can also stream the entire album on Spotify.
