Ladytron‘s Helen Marnie (AKA Marnie) has dropped a new single in the form of Electric Youth – a bubbly mix of 80’s mall pop and synth goodness distilled in to just three and a half sublime minutes! It’s fair to say that once again Marnie has cooked up another guilty pop pleasure, boding well for her soon to be released album.

For me, Electric Youth is evocative the sophisticated pop of Saint Etienne and New Order whilst the clever wordplay of the lyrics put me in mind of Morrissey and his most loquacious.

Through all that however it still retains echoes of the shimmering synth sounds that made Ladytron such an influential band. It’s the follow-up single to Lost Maps, and both tracks will be feature on Marnie’s upcoming album Strange Words And Weird Wars which is due out June 2nd via Disco Piñata.
