New Music: Mary And The Ram – The Dream

  • New Music: Mary And The Ram - The Dream

York band Mary And The Ram, contribute a fine effort to the area’s rich tradition of alternative anthems with the new track The Dream that can be downloaded for free on Soundcloud– have a listen below.

Whereas the original version of the track – released as a B-side to The Cross – clocked in at over seven minutes, this version is a slimmed down 3 and a half minutes or so.

It’s lost none of the dark intensity that comes from its brooding feel and ominous intensity, mixing a Gothic flair for drama with a swagger and energy that wouldn’t be out of place on something by Nine Inch Nails.

None of the story is lost in this truncated version, instead the compactness enhances the overall claustrophobic feel of The Dream.

You can stream more of the band’s music on Bandcamp and Spotify. They’ll shortly be heading back into the studio to record an EP that the band says will take them away from their more post-punk and goth roots.
