New Music: MYNTH – SMOG

MYNTH  is an Austrian electronic duo from Vienna, comprised of twins Mario and Giovanna Fartacek. They categorise their musical style as being a mixture of ‘beats and skewed analogue synth-sounds’, something that works well with the offbeat vocal delivery as you can discover on the video for their new track SMOG.

The track is a fine calling card for MYNTH’s second album, with melancholic vibes, hazy and wavy synth lines, duelling for supremacy with Giovanna Fartacek’s vocals in a battle to see who can engender a more blissed-out atmosphere.

The duo say their gallows humour gives way at times to an air of cautious optimism which is reflected in the sunnier, poppier feel to their sound. The duo contrasts it with their previous album Plaat II which they reveal mostly focused on dejection.

SMOG is out now, and the bands’ Parallels album is released via Seayou Records – click on this link for more information on streaming and downloading the album.
