There’s a rich gothic undertone to Desire, in no small part due to McDuffee’s vocals and delivery which add a layer of warmth and humanity to the electronic score. The bass line resonates like a pulsar, combining with the light, chiming melody to cause a pleasurable sensory overload. Synthwave with a rock twist, it’s a stirring and sophisticated take on the genre, and an unusual but welcome contradiction – the quiet banger.
Desire is out now and can also be streamed on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. Ghosts of Eden are currently on hiatus, but be sure to follow Neon Arcade on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date with new releases and more.
