New Music: NRVS LVRS – Lost to the Max

San Francisco duo NRVS LVRS have dropped a new single in the form of Lost To The Max and accompanying video to go with the track which is from their most recent album, Electric Dread. (We covered Castling from the album back in July.)  Check out the video, which some may find upsetting, below.

The song features a quiet intensity which belies the serious topic the lyrics cover, and sees the husband and wife duo Andrew Gomez and Bevin Fernandez create what is now their signature sound – dark, emotional and compelling in its angelic vocals and almost minimal post-punk electronic feel.

The band have described the Lauren Tabak directed video as being ‘simultaneously a condemnation of violence against women and a revenge fantasy that spans 200 years’.

Sadly, the track and video have hit at a time when we’re hearing on a daily basis about historical and structural abuse of women by men, but that just hammers home how big and enduring the problem really is.

Lost To The Max and Electric Dread are out now, streaming on Spotify, Soundcloud and iTunes, you can find out more about the duo and their music by visiting the official website.
