Now well into their second decade, Oi Va Voi still manage to delight and surprise fans and critics with their constant musical reinvention and freshness. Conceived in London, the sextet continues to break new ground, with the band’s triumphant new single Vanished World being a prime example.

With a vocal performance, courtesy of new singer Zohara, that harks back to the heyday of Sephardic romances, the brass adds a rich if melancholic air, as the track unwinds in a sensual and striking manner.

With hints of klezmer and a fusion of European folk nuances given a cinematic and almost classical air at times, it’s hard to comprehend how the track can breathe new life in to such a wide array of musical traditions.

Vanished World is out now, you can find out more about how to stream and download the track by following this link. The band will also be playing a hometown gig at London’s OMEARA venue on the 26th of July – you can get details about that here.
