The AT Blog //

Our blog is curated by the AT team, with a select group of friends and music aficionados also contributing content. Driven by the same passions as the label, we aim to give some much-deserved publicity and promotion to music and artists that can otherwise go uncovered and indeed, undiscovered by the more mainstream, trend driven press.

For us, the blog is a platform to showcase and celebrate the creativity and vision of musicians, artists and bands that we love, whilst giving us another opportunity to support new or emerging bands and artists as much as possible.

We hope you find something you like.

Star System is the first single from the Finnish indie-electro band Since November and it’s quite stunning; the opening piano riff is just instantly entrancing, whilst Tomi Mäkilä’s vocals combine sweetly with a driving bassline and the sweetest of strings to serve up a track you’ll fall in love with immediately.

The Weekly Roundup 16.07.17

I’m not sure this will be up to my usual quality, as I’m awash with painkillers and a dollop of shame. I fell whilst running for a bus! At least I provided some early morning entertainment for rush hour traffic and fully expect the whole thing to pop up online any day now. At least I did get to see the wonderful Duck do their magical thing, mixing up noise, synthpop and some DIY punk attitude. Them, the one-man musical wonder that is Soft Riot and the anthemic space adventures of Vieon helped me ignore the pain. Until now at least! Anyway, less flannel and more music!

Introducing: Battle Tapes

The L.A. quartet of Josh Boardman, Riley Mackin, Stephen Bannister and Beak Wing are better known as Battle Tapes, an electro-rock outfit that were infamously described as sounding like “Trent Reznor and Daft Punk went on a cocaine-fueled party binge in Los Angeles, but in the best way possible”.  Their music has been featured in various movie trailers, TV shows, and video games. The group are following up their 2016 album Polygon with a new EP called Form and have recently toured the  American west coast with Rococode.

New Music: Color Theory – Glory Days

Brian Hazard, is best described as the brains and fingers behind the one-man electronic music act he calls Color Theory. Hazard has been releasing music under that name since 1993 and is a real hidden gem of synthpop, making music that is light, immediate and catchy. He’s always played with musical boundaries and you can hear that clearly on the modern synthwave infused Glory Days.

New Music: Van Bobbi – 2 Become 1

Cover versions can be fraught with risks and danger, mainly due to upsetting your own fans as well as those who loved the original artist. So if you’re going to cover a well-known song, you’ve got to it and yourself justice. Van Bobbi’s cover of the Spice Girls 2 Become 1 manages to do that with considerable cheek and panache.
