New Music: Parabola West – Calling Your Name

  • New Music: Parabola West - Calling Your Name

Based in Raglan, New Zealand, the music of Parabola West (the solo musical project of American Amy Tucker West) is sure to have an international appeal thanks to its open and welcoming sound, exemplified by the beauteous Calling Your Name.

Check out the Chris Lane directed video below.

She describes her music as having elements of folktronica, synthpop and Baroque pop; and it certainly does have a wonderful mix of intimate and more expansive sounds.

With echoes of artists as diverse as Enya, Fiona Apple and Depeche Mode, it takes a simple melody and layers on synths and percussion on an almost orchestral scale. Magical and at times ethereal, but without losing its footing in the real world, it’s a real musical breath of fresh air.

You can catch up with Calling Your Name on Bandcamp, Spotify and major digital outlets. Be sure to check out her Facebook page which as well as being a source for news on her music, also gives a real background to the musical and literary inspirations behind the Parabola West sound.
