With their forthcoming EP Pre Invented World (produced by Tim Bran and Roy Kerr) due out soon, Leeds trio Peakes – Molly Puckering, Maxwell Shirley, and Peter Redshaw – give us a taster with their new tune, We’ll Talk.
The EP, which you can pre-order on Bandcamp, sees the band build on and expand their sound, judging by We’ll Talk. Though their vocals and arrangement have always had a sophisticated quality to them, here, their signature style has gained a more compelling and cinematic ambience. Lush, full of swirling emotions and electronica, adding to the pain and passion that echoes through the stark lyrics and Molly Puckering’s emotion-laden performance.
Puckering says this about the track: “It’s about the breakdown of a relationship and the decision of one person to cut their losses and walk away. When someone you care about continues to make bad choices and you’re left with knowing that you have to stop seeing this person even when you’ve invested so much time and care into the relationship.”
