Playlists //

As part of our mission to bring you new and interesting music, we feature occasional playlists from friends, guests and contributors. Our playlists usually have a theme such as a specific genre, era, place or topic; they could be songs that have tickled the fancy of the complier, or a list of tracks and musical influences that inspired them or connected with them in some way.

The Weekly Roundup 15.04.18

Sometimes I wonder if our mood influences the music we pick for the playlist, as quite often there seems to be an underlying theme to the tracks – either in content, ambiance or occasionally influences. The Weekly Roundup 01.04.18

This week’s Roundup is heavy on American electropop, but with that catchall description there’s still a lot of variety to be found. One thing that does unite the ten featured tracks is that they all offer a very personal take on popular sounds and musical styles, whilst avoiding the perils of restricting themselves to the influence of one genre. Enjoy.

The Weekly Roundup 25.03.18

From rural Sweden to the urban bustle of Manchester and New York, this week’s roundup is a fairly eclectic affair, in terms of both the music and its origin. There’s the obligatory Swede, but musically it’s not what you’d expect, and of course there’s plenty of synthpop to help you dance the Sunday blues away. On with the show!

The Weekly Roundup 18.03.18

Half the world’s entertainment media seems to have been at SXSW recently but not us, sadly. We’ve still been here, working away, looking for the best of music to tempt your taste buds into sample some not-so-forbidden musical fruits.

The Weekly Roundup 11.03.18

There’s a very Anglophone feel to this weekend’s playlist, with America, England and Australia featuring heavily. Even the obligatory Swede is based in the UK! There’s also a very chilled feel to a lot of the tracks, so if you fall asleep halfway through the article you’re forgiven. That said though you’ll be woken up very suddenly by the last song; it’s a banger!

The Weekly Roundup 04.03.18

It’s been a while since we featured a song from a local act, but this week we feature not only someone from Manchester, but also a band from our regional rivals down the M62, Leeds. As the UK slowly thaws, we hope to help you warm up with some lovely tunes this week from home and far beyond these frost-bitten shores.
