Rein’s C.A.P.I.T.A.L.I.S.M is a full-on, powerful and raw slice of politically infused electro-punk, putting two feet right in to the soft underbelly of what Rein perceives to be a flawed economic system. It’s the lead track from her upcoming EP Freedoom which is released today.
Joanna Rein regards herself as being a left-wing anarchist, stating she is heavily influenced musically and politically by the likes of M.I.A and Atari Teenage Riot, and she certainly channels those acts knack for bringing a memorable and aggressive ethos to a crossover electronic and pop sound.
Talking on the inspiration behind C.A.P.I.T.A.L.I.S.M., Rein explains: “We must question the monetary system. It is the ultimate culprit for absolutely everything that is happening in our society. Capitalism splits up the winners and losers and turns humanity into figures on a balance sheet.”
