With a personal background that includes Ethiopian, Senegalese and American heritage, it’s no surprise that Saba Abraha has rich, open, cultured and global sound. She made a real impression with 2016’s How Things Fly EP and following on from recent single Pathways that’s something that is sure to continue with new track Do’s & Dont’s.

An array of global musical influences are blended into a subtle, though at times angular RNB jam, in a style that harks back to early (more political) Roberta Flack.

The dense, synth heavy, though very commercial feel of the arrangement allows Abraha to share a ‘personal is political’ message, as she sings about the difficulties of just getting through the day in the modern world, and how it is ok to wander off the path as long as we’re heading in the right direction.

Do’s & Dont’s is out now and can be streamed on Spotify as well as Soundcloud. You can find out more about Saba Abraha on her Facebook page.
