New Music: Sgrow – Kismet

  • New Music: Sgrow - Kismet

Oslo based Vilde Nupen and Kristoffer Lislegaard are Sgrow – an experimental electronic music duo with their roots in Norway but whose musical vision has taken them to Canada to record their most recent material. They ascribe their unique sound to a fondness for pop, club and contemporary classical music forms.  Kismet is one of a sequence of singles that herald the release of series of mini-albums called Circumstance, due out next year. Check out the amazing video for Kismet below.

The track is unlike anything you’ll hear this year – a voyage through music, a track that begins as accessible and light in tone, with vocals that entice the listener to engage. As the tracks unfolds, Kismet becomes increasingly detached from classic song structure, with loops beats and atmospheric samples taking the listener on a journey to a musical Upside -Down.

By the end, you don’t know where you are, or how you got there, or even if it’s a good place to be, but Kismet is certainly a worthwhile experience. The video seems inspired by and sympathetic to the song, with images that entrance, then disturb as they race before your eyes. Kismet is out now, streaming on Spotify and other digital services.
