New Music: Skylar Fri – Gold Rush

London-based Danish artist Skylar Fri says she has used the time in London to hone her sound, which she defines as ‘cinematic, Scandinavian chill-pop’. It’s been a while since Better was released, but now there’s a new single called Gold Rush to delight your ears.

The track shows Skylar Fri has refined her sound to pop perfection. Her voice seems to have grown in terms of the dept of emotion it can express as her soft tones invoke thoughts of a sharper Lorde or Tove Lo. Her vocals entwine effortlessly with sublime synths giving the track the air of a streetwise angel – with a layer of toughness under the bright and ethereal exterior.

When asked about the thoughts and feelings behind the track, song, Skylar Fri says; “Gold Rush is about the internal war between your actual self and your ideal self.

It’s about a moment of temptation, of thinking money is the answer to happiness and about facing up to traits in ourselves that we don’t always know or want to know that we have”.

Gold Rush is out now via AntiFragile Music check out the track and more on Spotify  …  She will also be playing her debut Danish show along with the wonderful Frida Sundemo at Vega in Copenhagen.
