London-based singer, songwriter, producer and director Sølv (Danish for Silver) describes her sound as alternative, electronic R&B-infused dark pop. She is a DIY artist in the fullest sense, saying she is self-taught and self-managed. Her new track Heavy Weather is pristine, perfect pop.

With a vocal style that’s smoky and ever so sultry, it makes so much sense to incorporate indie-RNB sounds into the arrangement, as she does in style. Loaded with atmosphere, the arrangement serves to heighten the moody, yet ultimately uplifting message of the vocals, like a beacon of light on a still, dark night.

She says about the song, “Heavy Weather is about having one special person in your life who shines a light onto your darkness distracting you from your situation, surroundings and circumstances. They alone can lift your mental state and keep you grounded. I wrote, produced, and recorded the song during lockdown after a couple of weeks of feeling uninspired and low due to everything going on in the world at the time. Initially I found a synth sound and instinctively played a melody which became the main hook. After that, everything just flowed, and the song was written within a matter of days.”

Heavy Weather is out now and can be streamed or downloaded on all major platforms – click here to discover more listening options.
