New Music: The Ramona Flowers – Same Sun

We featured Strangers by The Ramona Flowers  back in October, and they are back with a new single in the form of Same Sun to tie in with some live dates here in the UK and – as you’d expect – it’s another winner from the Bath/London based quintet.

The track is another prime cut of 80’s influenced – though not retro – pop-flavoured soulfulness. The rich and emotive tones of Steve Bird’s vocals being allowed to shine through an arrangement that has echoes of early synthpop and the more modern, touching sounds of Hot Chip. Warm in tenor and with an affecting message in the lyrics, Same Sun gets under your skin and into your heart.

Speaking about the track, the band say Same Sun is aboutpassing through a place you feel you don’t belong to – feeling like an outsider but realising that ultimately it doesn’t matter because we are all a part of something bigger.”

Same Sun is out now via Distiller Records and the band will be touring the UK in March including dates in Manchester, London and Glasgow.
