Three Laws are Adam Relf and Louise Gold. Their sound is dark and atmospheric, weaving together haunting vocals with cinematic soundscapes, classical piano and dramatic percussion. After a brief hiatus, the duo re back with a new single called Road To Rome, which sees Gold’s vocal glide imperiously over a track that feature orchestral sweeps and electronic beats.
The band say Road To Rome is about learning to be alone after the end of a relationship. They explain: ‘The lyrics, on the one hand, literally refer to Louise riding her bike around the city every day to escape shadows of the past, after moving to London and beginning a new chapter. On the other, they can be read metaphorically, the proverb in the title of the song suggesting every route to recovery is cast in shadow but the seasons changing suggesting the sun will always break through’.
The track is featured on their debut album Illuminated which they launched on 18th August to tie in with their debut gig, which was held at the prestigious St Pancras Old Church venue in central London. You can find out more information about Three Laws, Road to Rome and its parent album here.
