Towards the end of last year, husband-and-wife duo Tidelands caught our attention with the sublime dreampop of their debut single High. They follow that up with the equally effervescent Ends in Smoke, which you can listen to below.

The song gives Emilee Holgate’s vocals a showcase to demonstrate the sensitivity and range that was hinted at on High. Favourable comparisons with Lauren Mayberry and Grimes immediately come to mind, as she possesses a similar style – ethereal at times but with a real presence and subtle use of emotion that drives the song along. The track is a perfect fit: hints of classic rock in the mould of Fleetwood Mac or The Cranberries, but with a fresh and invigorating electronic sheen adding an air of Gothic drama to it all.

Tidelands’ Ends in Smoke can be streamed or downloaded on all major platforms. Head over to the duo’s Facebook and Instagram socials to keep up to date with news about Tidelands and as well as other listening options for the song.
