New Music: Tony Njoku – Drifting Off In A Care Powered Balloon

We covered Drifting Off In A Care Powered Balloon by London based musician Tony Njoku in one of our roundups back in October, and on the back of that, Njoku has followed up with a beautifully framed and charmingly bleak video to accompany the song.

The track, which follows on thematically from 2016’s In Greyscale, was described by us has having vocal references to the likes of echoes of David McAltmont and Anohni in terms of its sheer range and majesty.

Musically it uses pop tropes as a starting point but untwists its DNA, reassembling it in to something that is otherworldly and awe-inspiring. It’s more art than pop, but has the warmth and immediacy of the catchiest tunes.

Drifting Off In A Care Powered Balloon is out now via Silent Kid Records and is taken from his upcoming album, due out next Spring and is currently streaming on Spotify and all major digital platforms. You can find out more about Tony Njoku including upcoming live dates via his website.
