Having once being called an ‘Indie ABBA’, London-based Useless Cities certainly have high expectations placed upon them with new single How To Feel. No need to worry though, they acquit themselves style and flair.

The sonorous lead vocals have the perfect foil in the intermittent, quietly insistent female vocals and the lush yet firm piano melody. The track flirts with goth and post-punk but rejects the trap of sounding introspective musically, even as the lyrics explore some deeper and more intimate moments. It’s a song that I can see going down well on the European goth scene like cited influences Interpol, with its sweeping yet personal ambience.

The band had this to say about the track: “It’s about the beginning of a new relationship, when you are trying to engage the feeling part of your heart. The thought of it all working out, despite reservations is a nice dream. Well, we all need to have hope…”

How To Feel is out now and can be streamed or downloaded on all major platforms. Head over to the band’s Facebook, Instagram or Twitter socials for information on the band as well as upcoming live dates, including one on October 9th at Paper Dress Vintage in London.
