Well known for her work with ethereal-psych band KULL and electronic duo White Russia, London-based artist, singer and composer Marina Elderton has begun a new musical chapter with her latest project, UV.

Joys of Pain is the second single from her upcoming EP.

With vocals that blissfully hark back to an era when pagan and Christian Europe met and battled through music, there’s hints of the sacred and the profane within Joys of Pain.

That primordial essence is also present in the brooding melody, but the intoxicating blend of dreampop, ambient and classical sounds lift the song on to a higher, purer, but sometimes lyrically unsettling plane.

Joys of Pain is out now, you can get information on how to download and stream the track here. It’s also available on Bandcamp, along with her previous release, Defender.
