New Music: Vera – Nobody Else

  • New Music: Vera - Nobody Else

Copenhagen’s William Asingh is better known as Vera; a young Scandinavian artist known for working with new acts coming out of Denmark like Off Bloom and Liss, as well as more established artists like Danish superstar . He’s now concentrating on his own music, and first up is Nobody Else, whose deceiving guitar intro gives way to a soulfully smooth, sultry electro grower.

Vera says Nobody Else is a tribute to the Caribbean novel Wide Sargasso Sea by the Creole writer Jean Rhys; the novel is viewed as a response to Brontë’s Jane Eyre. “This song came along in such a lovely way. I met one of my oldest friends in a studio one day and I hadn’t heard what he had been working on for ages.

He played me this beat and I fell in love immediately. I went on to do a few things on top of it and a few days later his band’s singer and I met with Off Bloom who helped us do the vocal-melodies. When I got home that day I played it to my girlfriend and she came up with the lyrics for the song.”

Nobody Else is out now, and will feature on the Good Job – No Conversation EP is released on Friday 8th December through Ultra Records/Ministry of Sound.
