Based in in Malmö, Sweden, Victor Öberg works as an urban planner and maybe that’s where the inspiration for Insula came from, as it’s a building term from Roman times.

To be fair it also means ‘island’ and that dual meaning fits the track very well. It sounds like running water at times, fresh and invigorating, on occasions it seems to capture the urgency and rushed noises of the city.

It feels singular, as if it’s standing alone – as do we all in cities at times, as do islands, insulae and frequently the populations that live within them. Complex, connecting yet apart, Insula is an interesting and pleasing conundrum.

Insula is out now and can be streamed and downloaded via Bandcamp.
