Tales of heartache and woe have rarely sounded as good as they do on Break My Broken Heart. It’s the second single from Sweden’s Winona Oak as well as the follow-up to the wildly successful He Don’t Love Me.

There’s a hint of Lana Del Rey to the song in the way it captures that sense of retro, technicolour drama and gives it life. But here, Oak takes those elements and transposes them to a more personal and intimate canvas. For me, some of the best songs are where you feel the lyrics are meant just for you, turning universal events into something  more personal and relatable; Break My Broken Heart does that in spades.

Oak had this to say about the inspiration for the song: You have to be brave to love someone with all your heart. But the biggest risk in life is to not take any risks at all. As long as we’re breathing, what’s one more scar?”

Break My Broken Heart is out now via Neon Gold and you can get details on how to stream and download the song here. To find out more about Winona Oak and the track, be sure to check her out over at  Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
