Known for her work as part of the  New York dreamwave duo PROM, LA-based Xoller pivots her sound in a very different but pleasing direction on her new single,  A Rose. Check out its magnolia blossomed magnificence below.

Written by Xoller and Jack Ventimiglia, it feels a bit unfair to put it in the same musical frame as Lana Del Rey, but it does dwell in a similar musical if not magical universe. But A Rose operates on a much more intimate level, part country confessional, part rural tragedy and part 50s death ballad.

It’s one of those tracks that would make perfect sense in a David Lynch or Quentin Tarantino movie, so much does it feels like the soundtrack to a showstopping scene  – bloodstained prom dresses and military hardware very much to the fore.

But if anything, it has that iridescent John Waters quality of high camp, perfect poise and deep emotion that makes its marriage of high art and seemingly low morals a perfect joy.

A Rose is out now and will also feature on the upcoming album with is due for release in the autumn of 2019. You can find out more about the album and forthcoming live appearances by checking out Xoller’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
