New Music: Zenzero – Ordinary Illusions

British duo Zenzero have a fine musical pedigree, with Tim Kellett (Simply Red, Olive) and Rosie Doonan (Birdie, Peter Gabriel) establishing their musical credential before teaming up to working together to create music much removed from what either had released before. Check out Ordinary illusions and it’s Jake Ogden directed video.

It’s an intoxicating melange of sounds and influences – they call their sound ‘post electronic infused soul’ more it’s certainly more complex than even that description.

The duo’s vocals provide light and shade, like an upbeat Slowdive, with nuances of techno, downtempo, post rock and more washing over triphop inspired rhythms. It’s impressive that they have coalesced such a diverse range of resonances into a coherent whole.

Ordinary illusions is out now and can be streamed on Spotify, Soundcloud as well as iTunes and is also the title track of the band’s current album – check out their website to find out more.
