Jenny McLaren (vocals) and Ricardo Autobahn (synthesizers) are inimitable pop duo Spray, and they follow up May 2020’s Offerings From The Algorithm EP with a visit down memory lane as they reboot 2010’s Everything’s Better with Muppets to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Read on to find out more.
The digital EP will feature both the 2010 remaster and 2020 versions of the title track, as well as the Moroder meets Muppets gem that is Trance Kermit Express. Everything’s Better with Muppets is also a live favourite of the band and their fans, so naturally, the EP also includes a live version of the track.
The band say: “With a catchy chorus and video edited by Stuart Bruce – whose credits also include Rastamouse and The Shaun The Sheep Movie – we thought Everything’s Better with Muppets would be our next viral sensation back in 2010, but despite some international airplay and popularity it never quite took off.
So – as is tradition in the music biz – we’re using its otherwise meaningless 10th anniversary as a perfect excuse to get it out there again and make us lots of lovely money. We’ve remastered the original synth-pop version from 2010 so it’s more banging than ever before but we’ve also given it a completely modern and cutting edge 2020 overhaul to appeal to the kids on MySpace. Maybe even 2020 can be made better with Muppets.”
Everything’s Better with Muppets (10th Anniversary Edition) will be released on the 6th of November, 2020 via AnalogueTrash. It’ll be available on Bandcamp on a pay-what-you-want basis, and the EP will also be available to stream in all the usual places.
