New Music: Sheenah Ko – See You

Sheenah Ko is well known for her work with Montreal-based Besnard Lakes, and as touring keyboardist for Bedouin Soundclash. With her Nowhere In Time album due to drop on the 27th of March, she’s dropped a delightful video for the track See You.

The lush, breathy vocals and funky bassline are reminiscent of Róisín Murphy, though rather than going all ‘dancefloor diva’, See You takes a very different route. The dreamy tones and sensuality breezing through the arrangement evoke more personal, one-to-one thrills than cutting loose in a club. The track has an experimental edge that moves it away from being straight-up pop, all adding to the feeling that Ko is setting her own rules here, musically and lyrically.

“When I wrote See You, I was just coming to the realization that this is a huge step in growing up, or else, you could become way too disconnected with yourself,” said Ko. It’s an incredible feeling when you can see and live life the way you did as a child, knowing this is who you really are with that pure, honest energy and curiosity.”

Sheenah Ko holds a Nowhere In Time album release party on the 24th of March at URSA mtl. You can catch up with Sheenah Ko over on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. See You is out now and can be streamed on Spotify and Soundcloud.
