New Music: Sunlust – Action Figure

Toronto’s Sunlust don’t pull any musical punches on their new song Action Figure. It’s the follow-up to Magnum Opus, which we covered a few weeks ago – you can read about that track here. Have a listen to Action Figure below.

There’s a distinct flavour of Distillers and The Donnas to the track in common with Magnum Opus, in its rough and ready take on rock n roll. Riffs to die for and a vocal presence that’s initially tightly coiled, setting the scene, but you know within seconds that eventually it’ll explode into a technicolour rainbow of noise. And when it does, Pixies-style, it’ll bring a smile to your face, as it did to mine. If you’re looking forward to spending summer evenings in dark, sweaty bars, then Action Figure will be the perfect soundtrack for those misspent hours.

Says the band about Action Figure, “It’s about small bedroom daydreams of robot action figures in the grass, blowing in the breeze, and dreaming of floating away to easier days.”
