New Music: sophie meiers – let me breathe

Published On: April 3rd, 2022|

Hailing from Durango, Colorado, sophie meiers started making music in their bedroom as a teen. Their glitterpunk sound caught fire on Soundcloud, seeing them sign to Epitaph Records, who recently released the new single, let me breathe. Check it out below.

A good reference for the sound of the song is the work of Sophie (RIP) and Grimes, as sophie mixes electro and hyperpop into an arrangement heavily influenced by rock and shoegaze. The vocals have a sense of power and purpose to them, for all their warmth, adding to the emotional intensity of the track.

sophie meiers says of the new single, “let me breathe is the feeling of the real world around you obscuring as you lose yourself in your own thoughts. Overlapping voices become muffled. Eyes phase out of focus. You watch the people around you moving and interacting like actors on a set. There is an eerie sense of solitude among a crowd of people. A voice slices through your trance, and you are back.”

You can keep up with news from sophie meiers on Facebook and Instagram. You can stream let me breathe and more music on Spotify and Apple Music, as well as all other major digital outlets – click here for more information. The track can also be downloaded on Bandcamp.
