New Music: Bloods & Laura Jane Grace – I Like You

Hailing from Sydney in Australia, Bloods say they had a dream come when Laura Jane Grace agreed to appear on new song I Like You. The track is from their upcoming Together, Baby! album.

The song opens with a rolling bassline similar in tone and tempo to Cannonball. The song does riff on 90s college rock and American indie sounds to a great degree as it opens, but then becomes something different and daring. The vocals, in large part due to the way Laura Jane Grace sparks off the band, and a searing guitar melody give the song a blistering rock aesthetic that’s easy to enjoy and hard to resist.

Says Bloods’ MC about I Like You, “Lyrically the song is about the giddy excitement you feel when you spark a new connection, and you feel seen by another person who ‘gets you’ – as much a friendship as a romantic connection. There is a level of comfort that comes with feeling understood and understanding another person – warts and all. It makes you feel accompanied through life and like you’re never sleeping alone anymore, because they’re out there.<

Adds MC about working with Laura Jane Grace, “I knew I wanted it to be a duet and our friend and label owner Cayle decided to be bold and dream big and asked Laura Jane Grace if she’d be interested in being involved. Laura is an ICON, so it goes without saying we lost our minds when she got back to us and said she liked the song and wanted to sing on it. Laura’s voice is so immediate and perfect, it has taken the song to a whole new level. It’s a total honour and dream to have Laura involved.”

I Like You is from Bloods’ Together, Baby! LP which is due for release this September via Share It Music and can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp. Head over to the band’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts for more streaming details, which include Spotify and Apple Music.
