New Music: Polyplastic – Talk To Me

Polyplastic – vocalist Charlie Ellis and bassist Emily Ibarra – have made quite a splash with their visuals and music, especially with the recently released Medium Complications LP. Talk To Me is a prime cut from the album, and a great example of their unique sound.

Emily Ibarra’s bass line brings forth a rumbling post-punk presence, a brooding, pulsating tone that hints at a darkness within Talk To Me. The song subtly draws in elements of Muse-like pomp rock and the gentle indie-pop tones of Metronomy, but it also possesses a sense of yearning, of existential searching, that neither of those bands capture. Talk To Me is quietly refreshing, but also harbours a sadness within its soul that’s hard to quantify.

Medium Complications by Polyplastic can be streamed on Apple Music and Spotify. Head over to the duo’s Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages for more streaming alternatives. The album can also be downloaded via Bandcamp.
