Karolina Thunberg and Ísak Ásgeirsson are the duo behind Gothenberg-based dark indie outfit baula. With lyrics as dark and complex as the arrangement, parasite is a window into the soul of their upcoming album.

The combination of Thunberg’s angst-drenched vocals and the stark lyrics capture the depths of a dysfunctional relationship, a sense of pain amplified in the fuzzy, dissonant arrangement and melancholic nature of the melody. You’ll find yourself loving parasite, even as it taps into the deepest moments and memories of the song’s protagonists.

The duo says about heavy heart, no tears, “The album offers no redemptive turning point, no insights or solutions. It simply reflects the misery of depression, from initial doubts about one’s self and life, to the final blow.” You can pre-order the album here.
